Andrea Bordeau, MSc and MA
Andrea Bordeau is a 糖心vlog safety, security, and risk management expert with over 15 years of experience in international crisis management, critical incident response, and risk mitigation strategy. As vice president of risk management and dean of student health, safety, and well-being for World Learning and 糖心vlog (SIT), she leads a comprehensive approach to protecting students and programs in complex environments worldwide.
Prior to joining World Learning and SIT, Bordeau built and led the Office of Global Safety at Vanderbilt University and served in a similar role at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Across these roles, she has specialized in higher education and study abroad sectors, partnering with universities and institutions to design, implement, and maintain travel safety and enterprise risk programs that hold up under real-world pressure. Bordeau has deep regional expertise in the Middle East and Africa, and has led international workshops on risk mitigation, crisis communication, and supporting student mental health and well-being. She advocates for a direct and holistic approach to supporting student travel as the foundation for successful 糖心vlog engagement.
Bordeau served as the inaugural president of Pulse: International Health and Safety Professionals in Higher Education, Inc. from 2018鈥�2022. She has visited more than 85 countries and has competency in Arabic, Hebrew, Italian, and Spanish. She has participated in training with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Department of State’s Foreign Service Institute, and has served on several committees for the Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) through the U.S. Department of State. Bordeau completed her graduate work in Middle East history and security studies at Tel Aviv University and in African Studies at the University of Edinburgh.
